Terms of Service
1. What this is
ApfelMC ("the Service") is a semi-private platform (registration may be open, approval-gated, or closed) for sharing Minecraft mods and modpacks, operated by apfelmagnet32, a private individual based in Germany, on a non-commercial basis. It is not affiliated with Mojang, Microsoft, or any other mod-hosting platform.
2. Accounts
- Depending on the current registration setting, new accounts are active right away, need admin approval first, or can't be created at all.
- You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for anything that happens under your account.
- Agreeing to these terms is entering into an agreement, so you need the legal capacity to do that: in Germany that means you're 18, or younger with your parent or guardian's agreement (ยงยง 106 ff. BGB). This is separate from the age for consenting to data processing, which is 16 - see the Privacy Policy.
- Don't share, sell, or let someone else use your account.
3. Content Rules
You keep ownership of whatever you upload (mods, descriptions, images, etc.). By uploading, you give the Service a license to host, store, and make it available to other users of the platform, for as long as your project stays on it.
Prohibited content
- Nothing illegal under German law or under the law that applies to you.
- No malware, no code that secretly exfiltrates data, and no attempts to compromise a player's or server's security.
- No defamatory, hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, or gratuitously violent material.
- No harassment, doxxing, or content aimed at intimidating or distressing a specific person.
- No impersonation of another person, project, or organization, and no false claim of endorsement by anyone (including this Service).
- Don't upload anything that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or other rights.
- AI-generated images are completely prohibited - no project icons, gallery images, banners, textures, or any other images created or substantially derived with generative AI, and disclosing it doesn't make it allowed. Such content will be removed.
- Projects that are entirely AI-generated will be unlisted - staff hide them from search and listings; they stay reachable only by direct link, and the reason is posted in the project's Moderation tab.
Honest descriptions
- A project's summary and description must accurately explain what it does - don't bury or misrepresent what a user is actually installing.
- Don't use the name or summary fields for anything other than the project's actual name and a short, plain description.
- If your project contains AI-generated content other than images (which are prohibited, see above), third-party assets, or is monetized, disclose that honestly in the project's Disclosures section. Undisclosed violations may lead to removal.
Cheats and unfair advantages
- Don't upload client-side modifications built to give players an unfair advantage in multiplayer without any server-side way to detect or opt out of it (e.g. undetectable X-ray, aimbots, or flight/speed hacks).
- Don't upload anything built specifically to bypass a server's or another mod's anti-cheat or security measures.
Copyright and reuploads
- Only upload content you own or are licensed to distribute.
- Don't reupload someone else's project without their explicit permission - a genuine fork with substantial changes of your own is fine, but credit the original where it applies.
Project quality
- Links, gallery images, and licenses attached to a project must actually belong to it and stay accurate.
- List every version/loader a file actually needs as a dependency so other users know what else to install.
- Substantially different projects belong in separate listings, not as "versions" of something unrelated.
- Have a clear enough purpose that a reviewer - and a visitor - can tell why someone would want to download it.
4. Moderation
Accounts
- Depending on the current registration setting, new accounts are either active right away (open), need approval from an admin before they can sign in (approval required), or can't be created at all (closed).
Projects
- A new project starts as a draft that only you and staff can see. It becomes visible to others only after you submit it for review and a moderator or admin approves it.
- A project can be rejected, or an approved project can be sent back for another review later. The reason and any feedback are posted in the project's Moderation tab, and you're notified.
- Once a project is approved, new versions you upload are published straight away without a separate review - they still have to follow these terms.
Reports
- Any signed-in user can report a project they believe breaks these terms. Reports go to the moderation team, who decide whether to act on them.
Enforcement
- Moderators and admins can remove projects, remove messages, and temporarily suspend or permanently terminate accounts that break these terms - including after content was already approved.
- While your account is suspended or terminated, you can still change the visibility of or delete your own projects, change your password, or delete your account. The reason is shown to you when you sign in.
- Staff can keep private notes on projects for moderation purposes; these aren't visible to the project's owner.
5. No warranty, use at your own risk
The Service is provided "as is," run as a personal project, free of charge. There is no guarantee of uptime, availability, data durability, or that it will be maintained indefinitely. Back up anything you can't afford to lose.
To the extent the law allows, the operator isn't liable for damages arising from your use of the Service. That limit has hard exceptions which German law does not permit anyone to exclude, and which therefore apply regardless of anything else on this page: the operator remains fully liable for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, for damages under the Produkthaftungsgesetz, and for any guarantee expressly given. For ordinary negligence, the operator is liable only where an obligation essential to the purpose of this agreement is breached, and then only for the foreseeable damage typical of such an agreement.
6. Termination
The operator may suspend or delete any account or project at any time, for any reason, particularly for violating these terms. You can ask for your account and data to be deleted at any time (see the Privacy Policy).
7. Changes
These terms may change as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "last updated" date.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by German law. If you use the Service as a consumer living elsewhere in the EU, this choice doesn't take away the protections your own country's law gives you that can't be contracted away (Art. 6 Rome I Regulation).
10. Apples
- Apples are points on this platform, for fun. They have no monetary value: they can't be bought, sold, paid out or exchanged for money, and they can't be transferred to another account.
- You earn them as described on the apple leaderboard and on your Apples page. You can swap them for in-game items on Minecraft servers run by the operator, as long as such a server offers it.
- Apples gained by cheating - fake or second accounts, automated downloads or follows, exploiting bugs - are taken away, and the account can be suspended.
- The operator may change the rules, the amounts or the pots, or end apples altogether, at any time. There is no claim to apples or to a particular payout.
- When an account is deleted, its apples are deleted with it.
11. Minecraft servers
These rules apply on every Minecraft server run by the operator, in addition to everything above.
- Be respectful. No insults, harassment, hate speech or discrimination - in chat, on signs, books or builds.
- No cheating. No hacked clients, X-ray (mods, resource packs or tricks), auto-clickers, macros or other unfair advantages. Allowed: client mods that don't give an advantage (minimaps without entity radar, performance and shader mods).
- No griefing or stealing. Don't destroy, change or take what others built or own without their permission.
- No exploits. Don't use bugs, duplication glitches or lag machines; report them to the team instead.
- No real-money trading. Items, builds, ranks or anything else from our servers may never be sold or bought for real money - in any way, on or off the server. This leads to a permanent ban; if necessary, your IP address is blocked completely.
- No spam or advertising for other servers, websites or services in chat.
- Keep it appropriate. No sexual, violent or otherwise offensive builds, skins or names.
- One account per person, and don't share it. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
- Listen to the team. Staff decide in game; if you disagree, raise it calmly afterwards (e.g. as an appeal on the website).
Breaking these rules can lead to a warning, a kick, a temporary or permanent ban from the servers, removal of apples gained by it and, for serious cases, measures against your ApfelMC account. The servers can be reset, changed or shut down at any time; there is no claim to items, builds or progress.
